About the company
“UNIVERSAL” as a brand has come a long way and we are intending to launch our own quality rainwear where in we would like to cater the best quality rainwear for gents, ladies and kids. Quality which cannot be challenged by any other competitor in the market, quality which guarantees no complaints from the users, with this intend we are launching our rainwear in the name of “Universal Rainwear and Apparels” We are using latest machinery and technology and the best quality of fabrics and raw material to manufacture this rainwear. We would like to cater this product on a larger scale so as to make “UNIVERSAL” a pan India Brand.
Our Journey So Far
In the year 1946 Shri. Yallappa T. Shreyakar & Shri. Jayadev T. Shreyakar, founded a small manufacturing unit in the name of “India Leather Works”, where in they started manufacturing of leather wallets, purses, belts, suitcases, kit bags, hold all, conductor bags, other leather products etc. at Anandwadi, Belgaum.
Later in the year 1952 a new firm in the name “Universal Canvas Works” was established in order to manufacture unique and quality products made out of canvas and foam which was an alternative for leather in those days, mainly for cycle and two-wheeler seat covers. In the year 1968 in order to expand the business and cater quality products to a larger scale of buyers a retail outlet “Universal Canvas Works Sales Depot” was opened at Kadolkar Galli, Belgaum.
In the year 1976 a new firm in the name of “National Bag Works” was introduced where in manufacturing of wooden suitcases began which was a trend setter in those days.
In the year 1986 a new line of Manufacturing was established in the name of “Universal Cushion Works” where in car seat covers were manufactured and in the year 1990 this firm was renamed as “Alfa Car Accessories” and in Ekta Seat Covers a proper retail outlet was inaugurated at Corporation Complex Goaves.
In the year 1990 another new retail outlet was launched at Kadolkar Galli Belgaum in the name of “Universal Traders”, with this venture we were able to cater more products and varieties to people in the travelling requirements stream which included sales of Bags, Suitcases, Rainwear, Leather products etc. In the year 1992 another similar retail firm named “Universal Trading Company”was inaugurated at Anandwadi.
In the year 1994 a similar retail outlet “Universal Enterprises” was opened in Panjim, Goa, for sales of travelling requirements so as to cater our quality products for the people of Goa. In the year 1997 we started manufacturing of marketable two wheeler seat covers in the name of “Ultimate Seat Covers”. In the year 1999 we started manufacturing of rainwear in the name of “Universal Rainwear” for a short period of time. In the year 2005 we started a retail firm in the new stream of business, i.e. furnishing and Home decor “Universal Foam n Fabrics”which caters quality Home decor products. Another new venture in 2005was retailing of Kids wear in the name of “Ultimate Kids Wear” at Tilakwadi Belgaum.
